Guest guest
I had two of the blood markers highly positive. Most cases ,only show one, or the other, and need a endoscopy. I had both, and will still as endoscopy at the University of chicago. I asked my thyroid specialist to test me for it, and he was flabbergasted when it came back positive. So the next step is the biopsy. I know this sounds bad, but if you tell them some of your family member have it, they will not hesitate in tested.Ask for a full cleiac panel. When I get the copy of the lab results, I will send the names of the tests Love >From: "dimonds68" <Dimonds6881@...> >Reply- > >Subject: /celiac >Date: Wed, 18 Aug 2004 15:17:39 -0000 > > Hope you feel better soon. Guest guest
I was going to tell you that a biopsy is the only way to know for sure, but as usual, you are very up on what you need to know. Actually,if you want to skip the biopsy, you could go on a gluten free diet and see if there is improvement. It takes about sixty days to know for sure. then the improvement would be all the proof you need. I have read that some people are able to eat gluten occasionally again when they get better. I too have antibodies to gluten. I don't know what sky high is , but mine were definitely outside the normal range. I try to avoid some gluten, but am not totally on the diet. If it helps you, I may just take the plunge and go all the way. Keep us posted Hugs, kathy >
Guest guest
terry. you know i have always wondered, but didnt fit all the symptoms. But my thyroid disease has become unruly to control, better with my new docotr, but geez! So last time I was - here goes-I lied, I told my doc that their are people in my family that have celiac and want it ruled out. AS thyroid disease and celiac goes hand in hand, and most docs know thyroid disease gets much better once the gluton is gone. I mean stidies show antibodies go away once gluton is removed. So he did. He did a fll cleiac panel, and 2 out of 3 came in postive. I know I still have to have a biopsy of my stomach to confirm dignosis, but you know, Imay not even go through that. I mean, I have antibodies against tissue and gliadan (gluton) so thats enough for me. I obviously react to gluton, whether its full blown cleiac or gluton intolerance-so I am taking every speck of it out of my diet. I know its bad to lie, but hell, it worked and Im sick of begging and pleading with them all the time. it worked wonders. And , you know celiac is hereditary, so I wasnt lieing after all, huh? I got it from someone. And it was good I did press foprward.
