Guest guest
Very good point, Detoxing is basically starving your body, and if your suffereing from hair loss, I guess it really is something to consider. Is it worth fasting and risking losing your hair? Hair needs nutrients and vitamins and protein and those things that you get from a healthy diet. Fad diets, back and forth starving yourself, those are chancy with hair loss. You hit the nail on the head with this one. I would not do any detoxing that involves fasting if I was losing hair. Just my opinion, and of course no one has to take it, but I would wait until the hair thing settled down before doing any prolonged fasting. Again fasting messes with so many things, electrolytes and the fine balance in your body between protien and other nutrients and can affect absorption. I feel 100% sure after watching the girls with the gastric bypass lose all her thick gorgeous hair that startvation is key to hair loss in allot of individuals. My good friend told me her hair loss was due to malnutrition after her gastric bypass surgery. To her it was worth losing her hair to lose over 100 pounds, but for those of us that are thin, I would really really consider skipping the fasting and trying to eat a regular diet and really consider high amounts of protien and good carbs a nice balanced diet is always best for skin and hair. hugs In , Jane Doe <oceanlilly_csu@y...> wrote: > , you are right about protein. Guest guest
: I agree. Did ever grow back her hair? Dr. Micheal Thorner at Univ. of Virgina(endo) told me that long term dieting can cause permanent hair loss. Hair deprived of oxygen, RBC, nutrients will eventually die. I was told the same thing by an endo at GWU. He also told me some forms of shock cause hair loss that can be permanent. Unfortunately, my anemia went undiagnosed until 2001. My poor follicles were starving. Guest guest
has gotten down to her goal weight and her hair is very thin, dry and really ugly looking compared to when she was a heavy girl. She has lost over 100 pounds and looks great cept that hair. She used to have gorgeous thick brown hair that looked so beautiful, but she is still happy to be thin, and she told me she has new growth coming in, I just have yet to notice it. My other friend Wende had the same procedure about 3 months later so she still has another 20 pounds to lose but her hair (always has been thinish) looks the same, never lost any of it, she says it was the protein shakes that she has been drinking the entire time her weight was coming off. They had different Dr's do the procedure as well. it is interesting to see the difference in how well Wende's hair has held up, lots of gastric bypass patients lose hair. hugs In , Jane Doe <oceanlilly_csu@y...> wrote: > : > I agree. > Did ever grow back her hair? > > Dr. Micheal Thorner at Univ. of Virgina(endo) told me that long term dieting can cause permanent hair loss. Guest guest
: You might want to tell to see an endo, with all that weight loss, it has to have had an impact on her metobolic/hormone system. Also, she might have low ferritin. With low iron stores, you can't regrow hair. Also with low protein. See www.florisene.com HUGS, LMnaturalbeauty38 <naturalbeauty38@...> wrote: has gotten down to her goal weight and her hair is very thin, dry and really ugly looking compared to when she was a heavy girl. Guest guest
: I started losing my hair about 4 month after gastric bypass surgery. That was also the same time I became anemic. I drank protein shakes, as much as I could hold and ate beets and spinach, even went to the juice bar and had fresh veggies jucied daily. Still my hair feel out and iron kept dropping. I ended up taking iron injections daily for two weeks then decreased the amount weekly along with oral iron. Now I take one injection a month and an iron capsule called Nefrex. It is prescribtion only but of course my insurance doesnt cover it. However taking the iron and drinking the protein didnt help my hair loss. I contribute that to flax seed oil and biotin...who knows, maybe it is the combo.....
