Guest guest
Quick question. I've noticed a lot of patients having improved cholesterol levels overall post-op, but unfortunately, it seems the HDL:LDL ratio worsens. It may be due to dietary changes (meat and cheese instead of carbs), but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to tell patients? It's probably obvious that I'm still new to this! Guest guest
We encourage EFA's (LA, ALA) in addition to EPA, DHA (if not eating enough fatty fish then Omega 3 FA supplement such as Coromega). The Linus ing Institute at Oregon State Univ has an excellent summary of sources, research. etc: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/othernuts/omega3fa/ Exercise may also help to improve ratio.
