Guest guest
Ok, I am so new to all of with amazing info, but I am so confused. I am not sure what supplements I should be taking, food choices and there benefits, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions where I should look or who I should talk to. I am trying to make changes in nutrition for myself, husband and baby. But, I am overloaded and confused. Thanks, -----Original Message----- From: Carol Frisk <carolfrisk@...> Subj: Re:cod liver oil or fish oil? Date: Wed Jan 9, 2008 11:10 am Size: 3K Only some cod liver oil is contaminated. Like Kathy Jo said, cod liver oil in the winter, because it is packed with vitamin D which we do not get in the winter due to lack of sun. But in the summer switch over to fish oil because it does not have the vitamin D in it. Less than diplomatically, your friend is completely wrong. Cod liver oil, not fish oil, has been shown to prevent cancer. Also, Oils that have DHA and EPA, not ALA like some fish oils, are extremely powerful anit inflammatories and successful treat depression. The research coming out is amazing. I agree with your friend that many supplements are contaminated, and you need to be careful, but it is bogus to claim that all cod liver oil is contaminated. Guest guest
Thank you Will, I will check out the info you've got. I was going to reply to the 2008 check in... I am not so new at healthy stuff.. (But, I have been lurking since I should be busy taking care of my (5 ) small children and schooling them..) but, this year I want to really make some changes... I want to learn more.. I have been faithfully buying most of our families groceries from a buying club for over 10 years, and making most of what we eat from scratch. This year we have found that my oldest dd and I have alergies to wheat and dairy. So, I have been researching... and decided to be more active reading and replying on the healthy egroups... I do own the nurishing trad.book.. do sub to mercola, and have now been reading,.. I did make kombucha last year and have made a batch (finally again) this week.. I also made saurkraut for the first time.. we had some at lunchtime.. my oldest dd cant get it down the hatch... So for 2008... I will be trying tons of stuff.. re- learning to cook wheat /dairy free! and full force on the CLO, kombucha, and kefir and coconut oil .. any other ideas for helping allergies?? I dont know if I can do a gluten free diet forever... help! :>) TIA for any help or ideas! Re:cod liver oil or fish oil? The article in the FILES on CLO is still accurate. You can't go wrong with any of those brands. I take the Blue Ice now but I've used all of them. I get my Blue Ice from Chiro who is kind enough to group order through her office (see the DATABASE). TO THE NUTRITIONALLY-CONFUSED (AND VERY HONEST): 1) Get NOURISHING TRADITIONS by Sally Fallon and Enig and cook with it 2) Get on MERCOLA.COM (you might want to get Metabolic Typing done) 3) Get THE FOURFOLD PATH TO HEALING by Tom Cowan 4) Get IN DEFENSE OF FOOD the brand new book by Pollan 5) Shop only at " healthy " food stores, COOPS, WHOLE FOODS, FRESH AND NATURAL IT ONLY SEEMS OVERWHELMING AT FIRST. It gets easier!! AND, you never get it completely right! Will
