Hi Guys, Shellie here. I had a woman from the Philippines emailed me about her daughter 7yrs old with severe congential scoliosis. She would like to get to a U.S. doctor to seek treatment. The first place I thought of was SLC and Dr.D'Astous. If her daughter is as bad as Mo was, she will be looking at a halo and then the Veptr. At any rate, she needs a free diagnosis from someone who knows what they are talking about. If any of you know of international miracle flights (Bert? Jacki?) Please email me the info at shelliegrant@.... I want to help this woman and her daughter get on the right track. I remember feeling lost once, then God brought our family to . the only flights I've heard of helping were the angelflights.com and I suppose they only do w/in the USA- so I'm sure that's not much of a help. Maybe if you contacted them, they might have some contacts of someone who would be able to help. I hope you can get it all coordinated for this little girl- I truly feel God led me to this group and wealth of info and Shriners as well and would love to be able to help out. Hi Shellie

I'm not much help I'm afraid! We usually pay for our flights - Twice

we flew Angel Flights (they were brilliant), but they told us that

they couldn't help us as we were " international " , so we drove across

the border (Vancouver is about 40 mins from the US Border), and flew

from Washington State.

Not sure of Miracle Flights international policy? Also, some of the

bigger airlines have a " Donation Miles Programme " - I believe

American Airlines and North West have that.

I do believe that Bert paid their own flights, and did some fund

raising to help. Right Bert?

There is a prgram called Delta Skywish that I have used before to get

to Salt Lake. I believe you can only use it twice a year but that

might be something you could look into. Just look in under

Delta Skywish and there is a number for you to reach someone. Good

luck. These flights donated by giving skymiles by people and

companies arund the world I believe.

If we end up needing to raise funds, I will try to get some other people to donate if I can. Maybe if we had a picture of the little girl that might help get people to donate. I will help in whatever way I can...I don't want this little girl not to get her treatment because her family can't afford the trip.

We require at least 16 days for domestic and no fewer than 21 days

for international flight requests.

Miracle Flights for Kids® is committed to providing our patients

with optimum conditions for comfort and dignity. In order to

accomplish this, we have set up the following criteria to aid us in

accepting those patients who will benefit to the greatest extent

from our charitible flights:

Must be able to board the aircraft unassisted (No stretchers or

body casts).

May be a blood or organ donor.

May be accompanied if space is available on private aircraft.

Must not be on any life support systems.

Must provide a doctor's statement confirming that the treatment is

required, that the patient is medically/mentally stable and able to

fly in non-pressurized conditions, and that the family has

demonstrated financial need.

Must be going to or from a recognized treatment center.

Must arrange ground transportation for themselves and family members

to and from the airport.

Must provide at least 16 days advance notice of flight requirements,

including exact date of appointment. When commercial tickets are

purchased, this advance planning permits us to obtain the best fares

and better utilize our financial resources to help more kids.

Must not smoke in or around aircraft.

Must arrive at least 1 1/2 hours (commercial) or 1/2 hour (private)

prior to the scheduled departure.

Must sign waivers prior to boarding private aircraft.

Must be aware that mechanical problems, weather conditions, acts of

God, or other factors may result in flight cancellations or delays.

Must not be on any medications that may cause adverse effects at

altitude.

Miracle Flights for Kids® volunteer pilots reserve the right to use

reasonable judgment when accepting or declining a flight. A pilot

may decline a flight if he/she judges that the individual mission

might jeopardize the welfare and safety of the patient and/or crew.

Hi Shellie, I don't know of any international miracle flights. I would suggest you contact Qantas or phillipine airlines and see what they are prepared to do to help with flights. The best way to raise some money is through media exposure. You could contact your local newspapers and see if they will run a story on what you are trying to do and then ask community groups to get behind you financially. It would make a wonderful story. I found a few sites that offer flights for medical emergencies and thought that maybe they would be willing to donate a flight for this cause. Here is one site I found: http://www.acor.org/ped-onc/resources/airlineflights.html This shows a lot of resources, not sure if they'd do international-but it would be worth a shot! Ta Shellie, Australia Day is a bit like your independence day except we never really became independent but we wanted a holiday anyway! It's the anniversary of the landing of the first fleet and we celebrate how great Australia is, yo know lots of barbies, beaches and beer drinking!!!! I like the donated points idea. Jen, Shellie, , and everyone,

I am really getting emotional over the fabulous community we have here on

this group. Its overwhelming to see the response and support that May and

her beautiful daughter are recieving from this group. Words cant express

how i feel right now. As you are all aware, being alone on this journey

can be horrifying and no one should have to do it alone. I cant thank you
