Press Release Weight Loss Surgeries and the Potential Complications Class Description: This course provides a comprehensive overview of the latest peer reviewed research in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of obesity via bariatric procedures; as well as the comorbidities associated with obesity. It emphasizes the practical application of that research as it relates to the real world of bariatric care and the appropriate follow up care necessary for successful outcomes with obese patients undergoing surgical intervention. Strategies and tools to prepare health care and mental health professionals, along with patients will be explained and recommended to decrease complications. Extensive discussion of both pre-op and post-op assessments and care for the rest of the patient’s lifetime will be discussed.
