Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I apologize if this has already been discussed. I know all of the info about supplementing low Vitamin D levels for our pre-op and post-op bariatric pts, but what about pregnant women (who have had gastric bypass) with low levels? I know we are supposed to recommend Prenatal MVI and a regular MVI as long as the Vitamin A does not exceed guidelines for pregnancy, but what about large amounts of Vitamin D? Can we use the 50,000 IU of Vitamin D2 weekly in this population? We perform over 400 bariatric surgeries yearly at our center and now the RDs who work in our prenatal clinic are seeing some of these pts. They are requesting guidelines from me and I was not sure what to tell them. I would appreciate your expertise on this matter. Thanks.
