Recieved initial results from Dr Blais

Hi everyone,

I had my explantation on Aug 20th in Bellingham ,WA. Dr

Whitney (works with Dr Helen , who I found in the Dr referral

section) did the explant and was very cooperative in sending my

implants and capsules to Dr Blais for evaluation. Dr Blais called

this morning and faxed me the initial report on the materials sent.

The Mentor 325cc saline implants (overfilled to 375cc by the

implanting P.S.) both had defective valves which did not close. One

showed an ingrowth of tissue within the valve and a small amount of

fibrous material dispersed within the saline. The capsules were

thick for the short time they were in (2yr 8mo), and showed chronic

hematomas(organized pockets of coagulated blood)embedded in the

capsular tissue. I'm trying to find out if the Mentor standard 5yr

guarantee should cover my explant costs because of the faulty

valves. Does anyone know how to go about finding this out? Any ideas

or thoughts on this and/or info on possible lawsuits would be

greatly appreciated.

Thanks all

Sharon

Dearest Sharon:

I'm so sorry that this has happened to you too. The best person to ask

would probably be Dr. Blais, he just might know. He has helped us so much

with medical and legal questions. You could fax him a short note regarding

your concerns. He is such a wonderful man.

I hope that you get well soon. We are all here for you.

Love always....Lea
