Guest guest
Oh, Heidi, I'm so excited for you! My husband and I are looking to buy a larger piece of property in the next couple of years, but closer to 35 rather than 350 acres. And of course it wouldn't be suitable for hunting. We're thinking of something out in Utah, in the mountains. Like you, I'm most at peace when I'm close to nature. But I wouldn't want to be TOO far from modern conveniences (like good shopping) either. ;-) And, I'm so happy that you have your own department now at work. That's wonderful that you're able to do so much, and you're maintaining your health. I sounds like your best bet is to keep to yourself about your RA, but push for an assistant. I can't think of anyone who deserves such wonderful things more than you! Sending much love to you, Carol [ ] Everyone Hi Everyone, Sorry I've been so quiet this week, it's been very hectic!! I have been co-managing my department since I started my job but have just been given my own department to run. Very exciting and more responsibility but pheeeew my workload has doubled and it was big enough to start with. If it carries on like this I'll have to ask for an assistant. I'm a bit worried about being able to keep this pace up with the RA. I've never discussed it with my boss, haven't lied about it or anything I've managed to cope well so far, it hasn't affected my work. If I speak to him about it I know it will stand against me for future prospects, bonuses etc. We are not as protected here in Mauritius in that way. For now I'm just trying to organise things and find ways to cope but it's not giving me much time to catch up on my e-mails. I've been following though and thinking and praying for you all everyday. I'm so excited, my husband & I are busy taking over the lease on a hunting estate with a group of friends. It should be finalised by the end of next week. We're going to build a little lodge to spend weekends and stuff, I can't wait! I don't hunt (that's my hubby's hobby) but love nature and animals, it's where I'm most at peace in the world. It's about 350 acres and only 20 minutes drive from our house. I'm getting a incubator made so I can incubate duck and guinea fowl eggs, he's promised me a duckpond! It's going to be wonderful, we can go on walks, fish and just spend weekends in nature. If I ever leave my job I'm going to get some goats ( I'll need some tips then!) and a donkey, :-) this is so cool it's like a childhood dream come true! I've spent hours catching up and writing posts today so have to warn you I'm about to flood the board! LOL! :-) I really missed you all this week. Sending you hugs and prayers and happy smiles. Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Thank you so much for your good wishes. I talked to the GI doctor yesterday. I felt that my recovery was soooo slow. She ask me who ever told me this was going to be a piece of cake or easy. So I guess we are right on target, it is just frustrating. I just found out that our new grandchild is a boy. This will be the first boy for us, we have two girls now. We are all so excited, my son is just beaming. Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Thank you I am excited about the baby. I have two granddaughters so this is nice. Plus being the mother of four sons, I feel I really relate to boys. I think each day I get stronger it is just taking longer than I thought it would. I see the surgeon tomorrow, or I should say his resident. So we will see what he has to say. Hope you have a good and restful holiday. Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Thank you for your kind thoughts and note. I have problems but I knew I would. I feel I get stronger each day. I have been able to go for walks each day and for me that is a big deal. Hope your week-end is nice. A beach house how restful. I long to take a trip to Jersey and just sit by the ocean. Guest guest
Heidi, Thanks for the response, that's kind of what I was thinking. I have a new primary care doctor now who is very concerned and he is pretty sure it is RA. I have an appointment with a bona-fide rheumatologist on Feb 5, I cancelled the other one, so hopefully will be able to start a treatment plan soon and get some relief! Betsy Tess Update Carol, Thanks so much for letting us know how Tess is doing. Prayers flying heavenward that all is well and she recovers quickly. Al: Hi there, great to “hear” from you again! Please give my condolences and a big hug! Joanne: I’m so sorry that you are still having these problems with the akathisia, it’s strange that this is not included in the possible side-effects of the drug. If the doctors feel strongly that it is the metho maybe one of them should report this to the manufacturer. I hope the meds help you out. You are in my prayers. ((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))) I’m so sorry you are feeling so down right now and flaring so badly. Are the doctors not able to give you anything to give you some relief? Have you tried a Prednisone taper? I think there are others who got disability in the group that were both young and without serious deformities and I’m sure that they will share their experiences. I just wanted to let you know that you are in my prayers na dI hpe that you will find some relief soon. You just go on and whine as much as you need to, we are all here and all have our turn at one time or another. You are in my prayers, Hugs! _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I love reading all the posts to everyone. I loved the one about the ducks and tarantulas and also I would love to be able to keep everyone's' name straight but I am new. I also loved to here about the 21 dogs and 44 puppies in the house!!! I love animals sooo much! For those of you that are pregnant (I have a glorious 19 month old named Hawk Deavers) I learned something today from my new rheumy, apparently RA symptoms are less evident when one is pregnant (she didn't explain why). I finally went to this rheumy, the only one in Marathon (or for that matter in 110 miles of Florida Keys) I liked her okay even though her husband who is an orthopedic surgeon almost killed my husband but that is a story for another day). She said that she could only put me on predisone until my lungs got less congested and that they sounded pretty bad (does anyone know why that is)? I have also heard that Predisone makes you put on a lot of weight ugh I have just started to loose the weight from the baby. I turned 39 Sunday and I can tell you all that having a baby at 39 is much different from at 21. When I was 21 I had my beautiful daughter (she weighed 1 pound 2 ounces since I was only 25 weeks into the pregnancy before she decided she wanted out!) I gained 40 pounds despite this fact but at 21 I lost it all within months. This time around I also gained 40 pounds but I carried until he was 8 months (I was actually really pregnant this time and I loved every minute of it!) The weight loss however has been muuuuuch slower! I haven't been on predisone since he was born since when I was pregnant I really truly believed that I had licked this thing. Unfortunately, being constantly pregnant is not an option (at 21 I couldn't stand it at 37/now 39 I truly appreciate motherhood in a way that I guess I wasn't able to while I was 21 since back then my priorities were to work make money etc. How silly that all seems to me now and I actually have " less " financially since I became disabled, however I know I have more in terms of appreciation of time and the simple joys of wet kisses, pillow fight and yes even potty training! I am very happy for all of you that are having babies ENJOY every SECOND OF IT, also maybe what my rheumy said is true and the symptoms will be easier to bear. Has anyone else heard this? Well, I again enjoyed hearing from everyone in this group. Singing off Jacquie in Marathon, Florida

Guest guest
Hi Jacquie. Yes it is true that many people go into remission when they are pregnant. Since RA affects more woman than men and since there is this connection between pregnancy and remission, they believe that RA is somehow connected to hormones. I went into remission during my first pregnancy, but flare most of my second. If you are congested your doctor doesn¹t want to start you on something new. Many RA drugs suppress the immune system, making us more susceptible to infection. Yes the prednisone may make you put on weight. If you use is just for a short time, it may not cause weight gain. Hopefully you¹ll get rid of the congestion and be able to start On something other than prednisone. Your family sounds delightful. You are so right in saying enjoy motherhood! They grow so much faster than you think. a > Hi Everyone, > I love reading all the posts to everyone. Guest guest
Have any of you tried " The Fat Flush Plan " Its a diet for cleaning out the liver and the lymphatic system, to help clear toxins and lose weight. It is by Ann Louise Gittlema. I bought her books and after reading the program, it is so much of what we talk about here. One of the things in the program she has you do every day is drink this cranberry water mix. 8 glass's a day. this is supposed to eliminates water retention, cleanses accumulated wastes from the lymphatic system and also helps to clean up cellulite. She also tells you that you need to take 2 table spoons of flax seed oil a day. I thought I would give this a try. Oh for all those ladys that what to exersize to sweat out the toxins, she writes that all you need to do to flush out the toxins through the lymphatic system is to bonce on a small tampoline 5 min. a day or brisk walk, but must be moving your arms 20 min. a day. but you need to be drinking water and the cranberry water. The cranberry juice is unsweetend constrate and you use 4oz of that and 28 oz of water. Than drink 8ozs 8 times a day. You do this for two weeks along with healthy eating and some other stuff. I will let you all know how its working. Started this morning. She does have a web site if you what to check into it. Love Cricket
Guest guest
, That sounds great to me. I am even more motivated now. I will let you know how it goes. It just made so much sence to me Thanks, Love Cricket > Cricket I was on here about 7 months ago, talking about this plan! I told Patty to add it to our links. I love it, and not only is it a gentle but effective cleanser (you will see why they call it a flush-really!) but it also targets and finds common food allergies, to eliminate, as they trigger immunity problems and keep you from getting well. I loved it, esp flushing the lymphatic system and targeting cellulite with the various uses, like a trampoline. and will be going back on it, as I fell off. I also figured I really had a gluton intolerance from the diet and pursued being tested for it, which I do have.I love it, tell me how you feel on it ! Oh, and the flax seed oil, I can not live without it! my hair and skin is awesome! Guest guest
Hi Cricket I'm , a nurse wellness educator who has a saline implant post mastectomy in 1996. I am planning ex-plant in the near future, no date and thought I could learn a few things from those of you who have gone through the procedure. In the meantime, I have learned a great deal about the messy world we live in and found some ways to make my life much more manageable. I'm familiar with "the fat-flush plan" and Ann Louise Gittleman. I often refere to her book, Your Body Knows Best. I have used the fat-flush plan myself and with some women who are in a weight/fat loss program. It's a good place to start to begin to clean out toxins and release fat. Here is where I differ - I use cod liver oil rather than flax seed oil.because our bodies need the EFA's found in Omega 3 fatty acids. Flax seed contains an overabundance of DHA's or Omega 6's. We all ready have too many in our diet so that's a problem. The substitute works well. I have modified the program to include nutrients of my choice. Guest guest
Kathy and : I would see Mercola, he thinks outside the box yet he's cautious. , thank you for posting back. Take Care. That doc should know better, and syndrome is very very controversial, and at the least, the patient needs to be monitored on a weekly basis. Those rapidly increasing dosages are very scary. I know when you have Hashimoto's or an auto immune illness, affecting the thyroid or endrocrine system, it has been shown that on a celullar level you are not functioning properly and need more. The cells are just not absorbing the hormones correctly. I hope finding that I have Celiac disease, and cutting out all gluton products, will slow this resistance down, help my thyroid (as many studies show thyroid antibodies go away after gluton is removed) and place me at a lower dosage! Please! Its unbelievable though, I really believe in thyroid resistance-(not nec. 's) levels are off the charts, and I am not exhibiting any hyper symptoms, (racing heart beat, fast metabolism, loss of hair) while fibro like symptoms are gradually dissapearing. And I am feeling more close to optimal Finally. But I totally agree with you ,in most cases, going by blood work will do the trick. Guest guest
- Anita Keep us updated if you see positive changes in your son. Will you try another one? How many or how often do they recommend them? I am still very interested. It sounds like your son is like me. I have a herx reaction to everything---especially the treatments that are supposed to stop herxes. It is so frustrating so I can really identify with what your son goes through trying these things. The craniio sacral therapy put me in worse and worse herxes and I tried it 3 times a week for at least 2 months. I couldn't take the headaches I was getting and so I quit. If anyone ever helps you help your son's herx reactions, please let me know. I will do the same for you! It was pretty interesting and I would definitely say it is a legitimate detox. I watched as my son's skin went from red to a more normal color and the water went from cloudy to yellow to orange to orange with globs of orange in it. It was pretty gross. Also he said his shoulder that he had injured was hurting. It says on the site that you are not supposed to herx but he did. Just like when he got the cranio sacral adjustments. About two hours after the treatment he got extremely angry. He ended up throwing my phone and breaking it but I couldn't even get mad at the poor kid. I could see that he didn't want to be angry but just couldn't help it. Just how toxic is this kid? Anyway, I just wanted to give you all the information in case anyone wants to try it. It cost $40.00. Guest guest
Kathy, I'm not going to do anymore. The herx is too much for him and for me I will be taking him to a new doctor soon and I will let you know how it goes.
