Guest guest
Hello...... I just received ilena email and decided to check out this support group. Ilena's email was about http://memphisflyer.com/MFSearch/full_results.asp?xt_from=1 & aID=6246 Great article!! I have looked around here briefly and you look like another good supporting group. So now ok, so this is the 6th support group for me... AND, I had to chime in right away because I read the post regarding Beth....about an enlarged spleen, etc. About me: My name is and I live in Calif. I had silicone implants put in in 1966!!! I was just EX-planted last year 2003 and had the 2nd surgery to finish the reduction part just this last March! So, I had them for 38 years!! (This is the longest I have heard of anyone with these.) I had to let Beth know that an enlarged spleen could mean serious disease! I have CML (leukemia)...my oncologist says the implants made me sick. Am enlarged spleen is one of the charactoristics of CML so please, make sure you are seeing a good doctor and have this checked out. I take Gleevec and am in remission with the CML, but those implants made me so sick that my immune system crashed and I got CML.....the ultimate immune disease, that, btw, is not on Dow Corning list of acceptable diseases! I am happy to meet you all and look forward to talking with you, xxx in Ca

Guest guest
Hi , Welcome. Oh my goodness, 38 years! 1966! That is incredible! I am really, really so very sorry for your illness. When did you start exhibiting symptoms of illness from your implants? No doubt, you had no clue as to what was going on. I would love to hear more about your experiences, and as you can see, I am still catching up with everyone...I'll keep reading. I hope you find our group helpful! Love, Patty > Hello...... > I just received ilena email and decided to check out this support > group. Guest guest
Rogene, I'll have to read that book you are talking about " King of Torts " ...sounds good. I just wanted to mention about the leukemia thing...I agree, we have not seen too many women with a diagnosis of that disease. The only one I can remember is our precious angel Phyllis....she mentioned to me several times when we met that she had been diagnosed with that disease, but then later it was retracted and they weren't sure what was going on.(I am sure she mentions that in her story) She was told she was going to die..what a terrible thing to hear! I know it was too challenging for her, but she was such a fighter...I just wish she had hung on. I really do miss her... , I hope you show signs of healing since explant.
