Guest guest
I don't think you are being rude... The only reason she didn't order hormone testing was that I already had that information in hand from my hollistic doc. Ferratin levels were ok. Actually pretty high for someone with liver disease. As far as the appearance of the scalp..a normal healthy scalp is thick, warm and dull, even waxy looking. Mine, had become dry, thin, but still maintained the waxy look. A TE hair when pulled out will not be deeply rooted with the waxy sheath attatched. The part that comes OUT of the scalp will be blunt, not the end that gets cut. A TE hair that is forced out too soon, will have the bulb attatched to it. This happens quite often with HYPER thyroidism, when there is a speeding of the entire process, and a new hair prematurely pushes out the one ahead of it. So, taking thyroid medication when you really don't need it, or taking too much can actually make the problem worse. I agree it's incredibly hard to find the balance. I for example, can only take about 75mcg of Synthroid if I don't want my hair to shed...but it isn't nearly enough to make me feel better in other areas.
