Guest guest
I have permission from book publisher Press On Regardless to distribute an excerpt from " Turning Heads, " a collection of powerful photographs of beautiful, bald women. They are bald because they have cancer. They are beautiful because they have been buffed by stylists and captured by some of the best photographers in the world -- four Pulitzer Prize winners among them. And they are powerful because they no longer hide their cancer -- or hide behind it. Many women diagnosed with cancer fear losing their hair more than losing their lives. This fear can prevent them from getting proper treatment. When they do get treatment, hair loss adds insult to injury and can lead to lowered self-esteem. The standard reaction is to cover up with a wig or scarf, but that's not true anymore, according to editor Hunsicker, who spent five years assembling these inspiring images. " The women in these pictures are out in the world, doing things, getting on with their lives while they recover. They teach us all a much needed lesson that bald is a look you can live with. " The excerpt I'm distributing features a photograph by film producer and children's book author . To get the excerpt, send mailto:stevokeefe@... with the subject line " Send . " Because the excerpt includes an image, I have to send the photo as a file attachment. If you cannot receive file attachments, you can find the photo at http://tinyurl.com/l9enb.
