Guest guest
Your son's head shape sounds like my daughter's was, she refused to sleep in any other direction than her right side. I am so grateful that I had a great pediatrician who noticed Abby's plagio as early on as 2 wks of age and was very pro helmet! I am shocked at how laid back the majority of medical " professionals " are regarding plagio.. People don't think twice about recommending braces for a child's crooked teeth, they shouldn't think twice about treating plagio with a helmet or band for a crooked head if need be! Please don't blame yourself for your son's plagio! Many many of our group members have blamed themselves at one point or another, but you have been everything you've been told to do by sleeping him on his back. And now you are doing everything you can do to help correct the flatness he has...you're a super mom and don't think otherwise! Best of luck tomorrow...you can go to www.plagiocephaly.org/support the " questions for the Dr " for a great list of printable questions to ask at your appt tomorrow. Please let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Hi Jyoungma2! Just wanted to say welcome to the group- and let you know that at 3 1/2 months old- your little one can still benefit greatly from repositioning. Do this as much as possible, and incorporate tummy time everyday. Moms have said that repositioning alone has worked for them- and I think it can but you really have to be on top of it, and know when to say when if it's not working in your favor- start documenting with photos on top view with wet hair, side, etc.- to really know if it is working for you. I was skeptical that repositioning can work on misaligned ears- but I do recall someone's email that it did move with repositioning. I think the key is to really educate yourself, understand and apply things that relate to your circumstances, and go from there. In our case, the plagio already started inutero, the tort aggravated the situation, and with him in daycare, repositioning for 8 hours was out of my hands- and the DOC band was the best option to resolve all of those issues. The optimum time to band is 5-8 months, but you can still achieve correction at a later age, albeit it might be at a slower pace and possibly more time spent in the band. Good luck to you and arm yourself with info and your little one will do just fine, because your a great mom and you want the best for your child. Keep us posted! Guest guest
I just wanted to thank all of you for sharing what you went through, so that someone like me can make the right decision. A couple of months ago, I became completely fed up with my 34A sized boobs and started seriously looking into getting implants. I spent hours researching and contacting different plastic surgeons. Then I started finding out that things can go wrong, despite what several PS assured me was a completely safe procedure. I think God led me to your support group (I had been praying as much as I had been doing research on implants). When I found your site and read the stories I broke down and cried and thanked God for giving me the answer. After what I have seen and read here, I will NEVER get implants! It is not fun to live with small breasts in a society where big boobs are the " in " thing, but it is certainly not worth risking my health. My heart goes out to all of you who have suffered so much. I am angry that so many women are mislead into getting the FDA approved implants. There should not have to be a support group like this. If everyone had the correct information on the dangers of implants, maybe we could put the implant manufactorers out of business. Please know how important your group is. I will refer anyone I know who is thinking about getting implants to this group, so that they may fully know what could happen to them. My prayers go out to all of you, and I hope your health improves. God Bless!
Guest guest
- Thanks. It means so much to know that we can help prevent someone else from going through where we have been. Thanks for sharing and also for being willing to spread the word!!
