Guest guest
hi there and thanks for checking up on me. We made it through OK. Lost an oak tree and a few shingles but many around here lost a ton more. There is a family down the street that lost their entire home in a fire once the electricity came back on. (it went out in the am when they were making breakfast and they did not turn the stove off... it was out for about twelve hours so I guess they forgot and stacked some items on the stove from their upstairs as the winds were so bad they were afraid it was going to blow the roof off up there...) It was horrible - we were there before the fire trucks were. My hubby, brother and neighbor actually were helping the firefighters as only one truck showed up at first. Luckily the family made it out w/ only minor injuries but they lost their dog. The house was a complete loss and we have been organizing a drive around here to help them w/ clothes, etc. They had a 6 year old girl. Yep - the flares have been horrible lately - I know it is the weather and stress around it. It is so scary staying inside and hearing those winds and wondering if you are gonna make it. One of my neighbors had a generator so three homes combined to their house which made things nice so the kids could play and the adults could have others to help keep their mind off of what is going on. I really hope mother nature is done with us for this year as I don't know how these poor people down here can take much more. The pumping stations are down so all the sewers everywhere are backing up - it is so gross. OK well - thanks again love Shari
