Guest guest
Hello to Everyone, I spent most of the day Friday the 13th, in the Hosp visiting and taking care of my younger sister who had a fibroid removed. She had the surgery Wednesday and had a hard time with nausea and migraines, etc., shoulder pain, abdominal pain. She was very sensitive to the pain killers they were giving her. Anyway Friday evening after 7:00 we finally got her home and settled in when my 14 yr old son calls around 8:00 to tell me that my daughter Gennie, 3 yrs has broken her arm and dad has taken her to the ER. So I rush from San Francisco home and give Brook his seizure meds and then I rush to the ER just as they are finishing the temporary cast on Gennie's arm. I called my Mom in the meantime and ask her to come over and stay with Brook and Miles. She had already watched Gennie that same day for hours while I was at the Hosp with my sister. We didn't get home until 10:45 or later when I find out that my Mom is really not feeling well. My dad takes her to the ER the next day. She's feeling much better now. Meanwhile my parents had been also entertaining 4 of our relatives here visiting from Italy. So now Brook is off school for the week while my other 2 are in school and I have to take Gennie into the orthopedic surgeon to get a permanent cast put on and someone has to watch Brook. Probably Mom again. Plus we have had contractors in our house the last 2 weeks repairing our upstairs shower which had leaking plumbing and dry rot that the previous owner hid from us when we bought this house. I am trying to remain calm, but I just want it all including my dh's job situation to be settled and soon before I completely lose it. Thank goodness I am on zoloft and clonopin. Hopefully soon life will return to relatively normal although the contractors will be back to fix a few more problems soon. Marisa

Guest guest
Thanks Donna and , Today I am taking Gennie into her pediatrician because they say they can put her permanent cast on there so I won't have to go to an orthopedic surgeon. Meanwhile Brook has been having problems with a lot of redness and peeling skin between his toes. We have tried corn starch but his feet are often moist, they go on a one mile walk at school everyday and he wears orthotics so the moisture can't escape. So now we think he has athlete's foot and he is seeing the ped at the same time Gennie goes for her cast today. I am going to get the doctor to write a note for the school saying they have to change his socks after the walk everyday. I had asked one of the aides to do it but they haven't done it. So I am having my Mom come with me to the ped because there is no way to handle both Brook and Gennie at the same time. Brook will just run out the door and try to turn on every faucet he can find. After today is over I am hoping things will calm down. I am having a hard time trying to get shirts to fit over Gennie's arm. I may have to cut off some sleeves of some of her shirts or something.Anyone had experience with this kind of thing? Thanks. Guest guest
Marisa, My prayers and good wishes are coming your way! I hope your life calms down soon. I know all too well how crazy-making that kind of confusion can be! Terry

I sure hope things calm down for you too Marisa. Believe it or not, even with five kids, I've never had to do the broken arm thing (broken toe and broken thumb, yes, which is a breeze compared to arm...LOL). I'll probably regret saying this.... I'll bet though that somebody else here has experience with that!!!! How bout using her brother's shirts for a while???? The bigger the better!!! Guest guest
Donna, We tried that yesterday and she refused to wear Brook's shirt because it was Brook's and not hers. She's at that very difficult age of 3 and 1/2 years. That has been the all time worst age with Miles and Brook both. Gennie is not as bad but she has her moments too. I did find a size 5 sweatshirt that she wore today and didn't know used to be Brook's al long time ago. Marisa

Guest guest
Docs: Here is some Friday the 13th trivia for you. Lyndon McGill, D.C. Salem, Oregon www.SalemSpineClinic.com www.LimitlessRelief.com Today is Friday the 13th! Here are 5 interesting facts about this infamous date. The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13. Did you know that diners in Paris can hire a "quatorzieme" or professional 14th guest, just so superstitious patrons with 13 members in their party can enjoy their meals in peace? U.S. President lin D. Roosevelt would not travel on the 13th day of any month and would never host 13 guests at a meal. Napoleon and Herbert Hoover were also triskaidekaphobic, with an abnormal fear of the number 13. As many as 21 million Americans will change their behavior on Friday the 13th, resulting in millions of lost dollars to the economy, time lost at work, etc. Imagine how many people are affected all around the world! And finally... The independent horror flick Friday the 13th was released in May 1980 and despite only having a budget of $550,000 it grossed $39.7 million at the box office in the United States.
