Dear colleagues, Just wanted your idea as per what quick health checks you would recommend that can be preformed quickly, easily for the masses…one’s that the public find interesting and that give useful information. The Oregon Chiropractic Association is considering having profession displays with the theme of “wellness” at our state capitol during the start of the regular 2013 Oregon Legislative Session. The idea is to educate the public and law makers that our scope of practice and clinical skills go beyond simply pounding down the high spots in people’s spines. We were thinking of having a combination of free checks and well as more sophisticated tests which would have a nominal charge for but that the public would write their checks to the non-profit “Children First for Oregon Fund.” We would love your collective ideas here are some of the testing/checks/stations we were thinking of: 1. Blood pressure check stations2. Blood sugar by finger prick stations3. Computerized spirometer for lung function4. Bone mineral density, with one of the small units5. Postural check and education station on proper posture and core exercises6. Spinal check/station7. Ears, eyes, nose and throat station?8. Imaging station, as in view boxes or laptop for CDs of their radiographs or special imaging. Inviting the public to bring their films or CD for a conservative chiropractic review9. Computerized dietary questionnaire 10. Nutritional/dietary educational station (Eat Well)11. De-stress/station instructional including breathing techniques for mental wellbeing (think well) 12. All about the education and training of a chiropractic physician information station, Univ. of Western States We were thinking of hooking up with one of the local fitness gyms who would donated a one month free membership to their gym for those who complete the wellness stations and present each with a healthy goodies bag and a raffle ticket for one grand prize which is health related e.g., treadmill or exercise bike ??? Give the OCA your wonderful ideas and also if you think certain stations list above are not something we should do…….just a quick note give us your ideas….. Thanks, Vern Saboe, DC., FACOLobbyist, Oregon Chiropractic AssociationACA Delegate for Oregon
