Guest guest
Have 2 recent patients, whom, after 3-4 months of care, were given an IME, and told that their own insurance company would not pay for further care. Both are soft tissue injuries, hard to prove that they have significant injuries that are ongoing. They were offered arbitration. I suspect both will discontinue care and try to get a settlement from the other party's insurance. Settlement dollars tend to be low in southern Oregon. How do others handle this. I used to take a lien and continue to treat. Not sure what to do in the current environment. Neither of these patients has private insurance. Appreciate others thoughts thanks Marc Heller, DC
Guest guest
If they have an attorney who I know and who will likely help the patient get a settlement and pay their outstanding bills, then I will do a lien. If it's an attorney I don't know or if they don't have an attorney, then the patient will have to pay our self-pay fees to continue being seen.
