Today, I reached a person at EDI support services concerning whether we have to call in and register as small providers so as to not bill electronically. What I learned today was that if you are currently billing with the US Mail "hard copy" of the HCFA, you may continue. If you want to switch out of electronic or into electronic billing then you have to register with them for the 5010. Since I want to use the mail, that's as far as I asked. Hope that helps.
