I just began taking 1800 mg of Neurontin yesterday and today I feel like I am

high. Is this a normal feeling or will it go away?

Jen ****Jen, wow that is alot of Neurontin to start with first thing. The

usual " start " is 300 mg a day and increased by 300 mg each day after. This is

how I started, and over the course of a weekend was at the 900 mg " base " . Oh

yeah, I felt " high " sort of with that amount. Colors seemed brighter, and other

senses were really heightened. That all lasted about 3 or 4 weeks, then things

seemed to be " level " again. ~ Gretchen

Hi Jen:

Wow - 1800 mg a day, to start, seems very high, no pun intended. I suspect

most people would have the same reaction as you. I was started at a low

dose, I think around 300 mg.a day. There should not be any " highs " when you

take Neurontin. That is one of the things I like about Neurontin vs.

narcotic pain relievers.

As long as I was getting pain relief at a certain amount of Neurontin, I

stayed at that amount. It seems to plateau. If and when the pain became too

severe, I had the dosage increased, but again in small increments.
