HelloDon't feel bad.   A huge proportion of the population have it and don't even know that they do, I think it's something like a third of the population have it.   Also, the first outbreak is usually a good year or two after the infection, most infections are from childhood when some aunt or friend of the family gave you a friendly peck so it's not a comment on your morals as many would believe and never believe someone who claims to have been infected by you as they probably don't remember who actually infected them, you probably just happen to be around just before their first outbreak.   The symptoms at the time of infection is usually just a fever.   Just use the creams for cold sores, the Doctor can prescribe you some good ones or you can use over the counter ones like Abreza, keep your skin moist and relax (stress is often the trigger).   They also have oral meds for it that hit the virus a lot harder and faster, just be sure to follow the instructions in terms of frequency of doses.Regards,On Oct 4, 2006, at 7:29 AM, noggintnog2 wrote:so i was very recently told that i have herpes.
