Guest guest
Hi , I am 47 and know exactly what you are talking about when it comes to leg pain. I have described my pain as feeling like a nausea of the legs. I know that sounds weird but it's not pain as much as a very uncomfortable feeling. It comes and go but lately whenever I go to the gym I suffer some pain or discomfort the next day. I don't overdo it either! I work out on the rowing machine about ten minutes and then walk on the treadmill for one mile. That's it. As a result of my gait, (I do not wear AFOs but have foot drop on the left side) I have done a number on my back and neck. The MRIs are scary but fortunately, I have managed and am able to continue being fairly active. I cannot wear heels at all but have found that tennis shoes and Merrels (mules that have a rocking action when walking) are great. The Merrels come in tons of colors and look great with capri pants! hehe I know CMT is a progressive disease. I was misdiagnosed with MS for over three years and took injections daily, just to find out that I most likely have CMT2. Like many others who have been tested, the results did not confirm CMT but that's what my neurologist seems to think I have. I have extremely high arches (I took ballet for seven years growing up and could never go up on point on my left foot) I just thought my left foot was weak. I have hammer toes and my left leg is starting to atrophy. However, no one in my family seems to have this. So.................. Hang in there. I feel strongly that when ones' gait is off, the body suffers in many ways. For what it is worth, I agree with your doctor that your leg pain is coming from your gait problems. Best of luck to you and everyone else on this board! Karon
Guest guest
> This is one of the reason I love reading at this site. My daughter was also a late walker. She also would not bear weight on her legs. I truly thought it was her knees but everyone thought I was crazy. I got her physical therapy but once she started walking, it was not needed. She still does not do things that require a lot of knee bending (such as climbing and going up and down steps) and this seems to go in cycles as well. I am not sure of the actual amount of pain she is in. I know she has a high pain threshold so I wonder how often they hurt and she really doesn't say anything about it (she is not quite two and a half). Also after she wakes up she seems to be really quite stiff (we call it her cowgirl walk). has only had one fever since starting singulair a few months ago but she seems to be having other symptoms but with no apparent cycle to them. Thanks for posting - I love to hear that others are going through or have been through the same things. It helps!
