Hi. My son experienced the same thing. As we

progressed with chelation it gets better and better. I

was never able to find out why but it doesn't happen

often. My girl who is NT (2.5) sometimes have the same

problem. It might be common, who knows? Vicky

Hi ,

I have chronic pain in my legs and as a general rule in the thigh region, kind

of feels like millions of little spasms in the muscles with an overall ache.

These pains are more frequent in cool weather and heat helps.

Recently after visiting a new neurologist, he suggested that it was most likely

caused by the way I was walking( the Gait) and asked me to start taking 1/2 a

tablet of Tizanidine (Zanaflex)= 1 mg at ten at night, and addtionally to start

wearing shoes that tie up over my ankles for addtional support ( I don't wear

AFOs yet).

This has seemed to help quite alot. I know it is a muscle relaxer, and am

hopeful I am not doing any damage( please let me know if anyone knows other

wise).

I was skeptical, but it seems to be doing the trick, and at this point I don't

take it every night unless I feel the need. My pain tends to come in episodes

that last up to six weeks at a time and then goes away.

My mom said that the same thing happened to her at my age (52) before her CMT

worsened. Stress and over activity also seem to provoke the pain, but I have

noticed that it gets worse when the weather gets colder here( which isn't often

Ft. Lauderdale area) and my mom moved herw for that reason - the cold sets her

pain off also. Hope this is of some help.

I, too, have had periods when I would describe my legs are being

nauseatingly weak. When I mentioned this at our support group meeting, the

members all

agreed that it has happened to them. Certainly is a strange feeling, isn't

it? No one would believe us!

I have lived across the United States 27 years in Chicago my legs hurt 4 yrs in

San Diego legs hurt. I now reside in a town 20 miles south of Denver

at an altitude of 7000 ft. My pain has gone down by over 70 percent. I do

weare an AFO.

When I spook to the doc he says alot of poeple feel better up here because it is

dry and the way of life is slow so I actualy fit in and the coldest it has

gotten here is 20 and that was over night the daily temp has been 50-60 . I

don't have a severe case but the little towns here are more accessible than any

other place I have visited and Colorado was named retirement capital of the US.

Dan ****Dan, having lived in Wyoming/Cheyenne/Laramie/ for a number of

years this is my experience. Yes, it is dry. But, there is less oxygen at the

higher altitudes so my lungs had to work harder. Breathing deeper and cleaner

air made more red blood cells get to the muscles. My muscles got a good workout

and I was energized although I have never had leg pain. ~ Gretchen
