Update your account information Join ChiroVoice.org HHS Releases Final Rule on State Exchanges Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a 644-page final rule regarding state-run exchanges and marketplaces established under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). HHS did accept some of ACA's recommendations that were issued last year including a request for state insurers participating in the exchange to consider a broader definition of the types of providers who may furnish primary care. CMS Delays 5010 Enforcement Until June 30, 2012 CMS' Office of E-Health Standards and Services (OESS) announced today that enforcement of the use of Version 5010 electronic transaction regulations has been delayed another three months. The new date will now be June 30, 2012. Recognizing that there are still several issues impeding full implementation, the decision was made to delay enforcement and have OESS offer additional technical assistance to covered entities. As stated in the CMS Statement, " OESS strongly encourages industry to come together in a collaborative, unified way to identify and resolve all outstanding issues that are impacting full compliance, and looks forward to seeing extensive engagement in the technical assistance initiative to be launched over the next few weeks. Two ACA members appeared on widely popular, nationally syndicated TV talk shows. Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, the president of University, was on " Dr. Phil " and Dr. Shoshany made his second appearance on " The Dr. Oz Show. " Dr. Mancini and Dr. Phil discussed how chiropractic care fits into a generally healthy lifestyle. They also talked about the principles in his new book, The Power of Self-Healing: Unlock Your Natural Healing Potential in 21 Days.Dr. Shoshany On the Dr. Oz show, Dr. Shoshany discussed the efficacy of chiropractic care for treating back pain and performed an adjustment on an audience member. During the segment, Dr. Oz urged viewers to consider conservative care before opting for medication or surgical interventions, which the acclaimed surgeon said are not necessary in most cases. Supreme Court Schedules Six Hours of Arguments for Health Care Reform The U.S. Supreme Court has scheduled three days of oral arguments on the landmark Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) to be held on March 26-28. The combined six hours' worth of hearings is the most time given to a single topic in 44 years. The court will hear arguments from both sides regarding the individual mandate, the expansion of Medicaid, and hundreds of other provisions. A final decision from the court is expected by early July, and will undoubtedly have an impact on the 2012 presidential race. Keep reading Week in Review and other ACA publications for updates.
