Yes.....some of the managed care contracts do stipulate that the gatekeeper has to order all advanced diagnostics. It's in the fine print of the contract. Some companies just require pre-authorization and allow DC to order, and others no pre-authorization. Best to check it out before hand, and even better to have the patient call and ask if the DC can order.
