Guest guest
Jen, I am so sorry. That is really horrible, especially because special ed students can so more relate to someone who also has stuggles. FIGHT, and I will bring this up at our next county disability meeting and see what they say, because their agenda has been about the school systems lately. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I intend to finght the district. I contacted the EEOC and I have an interview scheduled with them. They deal with all kinds of discrimination issued. The union is not much help because they said others are losing their jobs as well, so it isn't about the wheelchair. I want to know if those others had good evaluations too and if the 4th evaluation contradicts the first 3. Also the principal told the union rep a while ago when she told him I was nervous about using the chair that he had no reason for me not to go back next year. Also, the lady that did my last 2 evaluations tried to mark me down because I taught sitting on the 3rd evaluation. She even told the Social worker that. The social worker told her she could not do that because they had to make reasonable accomodations. the social worker said she would even testify in court. None of this will be settled by the next school year. However, I decided that this will be my last year of teaching. I taught for 3.5 years and I wanted to teach so I could touch lives and I did that. Now I feel that it is time to get on disbility and maybe substitute part time and spend time with my family. This has been a hard decision, but I feel it is the right one. Also, we decided to be foster parents and hopefully adopt thru the foster system. That way I can still touch children's lives but on a deeper level. Jen
