You may want to look into RLI Insurance (do a search on internet). Although

I do not have the info on the company at hand, I have insured my company

with them and find that it offers what I need (for now).

And one more thing Im going to tell Blue Shield when I call! I was

scheduled for surgery on 7/31/03 to have part of my toe removed.

See..since I am so heavy my foot is FAT FAT FAT! I am having a hard

time buying shoes and as a result the bone in the top of my small toe

is rubbing against the one in the other foot making a sore and making

it very hard to WORK 12 hours. I just saved BS thousands! I just

cancelled that surgery! I figure if Im going to have this surgery

done, why mutilate my body like that to walk..so instead of being

toeless (ok they were just going to remove one of the bones) I will

just get this weight off and have my normal feet back..which mind

you, fit nicely into a size 9.5 once upon a time!

When they sent in my approval packet, Dr. K asked for the approval for the

date they had open for surgery. They approved that date and just about a week

around it -- I have BC of CA. So, had there been any glitches, I would have

had to have been reapproved. Scary thought!

Vicki do you have the book Prepare for Surgery (I don't know whether that is

exactly the title, as I have passed on my copy). I think it would do you a

world of good. It has some visualization exercises and breathing exercises.

It helped me soooo much before and during surgery.

Most travel insurance have look back periods and if everything has been OK, for

that period until you purchase the insurance, it overides the pre-existing

clause. Also if you buy the insurance at about the same time that you pay for

the trip (or first payment if you are paying it out) they also drop the

pre-existing clause.

Look on line at insuremytrip.com . They do a good job of comparing products and

when you click on any topic they will give you all the details of the actual

contract. I have used them several times, and they are very good at answering

questions by telephone too

Hope this helps

Thank you for those tips Ann. I shall look into them.

Hope you're having a good time in San Diego. Where are you actually

from? Are you heading to Vegas in time for the weekend?

All the best

Of course, I make just too much money to qualify for any assistance. They only consider your actual income and not how much is left after you pay for your insurance & taxes. May I should be asking for a pay cut instead of a raise! lol

Insurance has never made any sense to me. My husband and I have possibly the worst insurance out there. My husband is obese and wants to get the gastric bypass, but insurance won't cover it- but when he develops diabetes or heart problems or something else permanent from it, they'll have to pay for those meds and stuff. That makes NO sense to me!

Anne

I called my sons insurance company today, and all they cover is camdens evaluation, and diagnosis of aspegres, no treatment. Blood work can be done, and CT, EKG and stuff, but any kind of therapy or sical skills, or anything else is up to me, or the school system they said.

Not sure where you are located, but in my school district the school

takes care of everything. My son has a full-time aide which the

school provided. After the child is evaluated they will get an IEP

which will provide a set of goals for your child. This would also be

a good time for you to ask about an aide if one is needed. Hope this

helps.

Anne,

I understand. I had the DS (self-pay) and they won't even cover my

regular bloodwork. In fact, now they question everything, as there is

a clause that says that if a problem could have been caused by weight

loss, they don't need to cover it either... That could be just about

anything, from an eventual hernia to anemia to changes in hormone

levels to osteoperosis to depression to you name it, they try to link

it all together. They tried to deny me my yearly gyno visit, trying

to tie it all in, but sorry, some things just stretch common sense

just too far to be believed! If I get a yeast infection, a urinary

tract infection, need birth control pills to regulate hormones, need

antidepressants, have poly cystic ovarian, have arthritis, they think

it all must be due to loosing weight, even though their records

clearly show that I occasionally had all of these issues (plus many

more weight related ones) prior to surgery.

My husband would like to have the RNY or the DS, but can not. We just

can't afford it. We didn't realize how much ongoing time and money it

would cost to fight the insurance company and for basic medical care,

even though we pay 300-400 per month out of my husband's check for

insurance, we have a deductable that equals 350 per person in our

family, and then we pay a $20 plus 20% of the remaininb balance... Go

figure!!!

Good luck! They won't pay for anything related to autism either...

Isn't that horrible!?! My husband is the only income in our family because I am going to school, so thank God we are able to have the kids on Medicaid, otherwise I don't know WHAT we would do. Our deductable is $5000! Yesterday morning I thought I broke my ankle and you can forget going to ER to get X-Rays, I can't afford it!

I would think if he was ordered to keep insurance on Hannah as part of your

divorce decree and support settlement then he is in contempt and also he

could be held responsible for the home health bill in full. Might be a good

lesson for him to learn.

from dale, Mom to Katy, CVID,age 21

, Apparently it's a pretty common ex-husband kind of thing to try.

I see it a lot in abuse cases. And so far, we've always been able to

work it out if the husband is employed with a company that provides

health benefits. Not so successful if it's a private insurance. If you

have contact with his insurance person at work -- contact them and

supply them with the court documents requiring him to pay and ask them

to intervene in this. If you have a court document ordering him to

continue providing insurance for her then you have some ammunition. I

know it's expensive to get your lawyer involved again, but in this case

it may be necessary to get it in writing if it is not already.

Hope that helps. I also believe that your insurance company is required

to inform you if you are being removed from insurance and offer you the

option of Cobra coverage. That would also be a possibility to follow up on.
