Guest guest
Dear Deb, Reading at your email, do you find that we can make those calves muscle get stronger at the gym? Not just the looks, but actually make the legs much stronger after all? I wonder if we can improve it, what has been damaged? Joana
Guest guest
Hi Joanna! I do think we can make the muscles stronger with exercise, etc. My dr. tells me that by keeping my legs strong I am able to compensate for the muscle loss and atrophy in my feet and ankles. At the very least, I am sure that exercise would help to keep what strength is already there. I walk a lot - outside when the weather is good and with tapes (the Sansone series) when it is not. I also do some leg strengthening excercises - nothing complicated or anything (I am not coordinated enough for anything too complex) but like leg lifts and things like that with ankle weights. (I also do a few weight exercises for upper body just to keep strength and healthy all over). Deb
Guest guest
Great to know that Deb! Gives me Hope!!! Wonderful is the fact that you can walk afterall! I find right now difficult to walk much because of the ache on my hips and my weak foot and that is why I feel so insecure and scary. I am going to continuing with those exercises and make sure I do not over do. Slowly, I hope I will be able to get stronger and stronger! Deb, how long you have been doing exercices? Can you tell me how old you are? I am 51 and my problems with walking started after my menopause 2 years ago. This is interesting to find out. I wonder if this only happen to me, feels weaker after the menopause! Anyway, thanks a lot Deb! Take care Joana
