Tea tree oil Medicinal Uses:

Tea tree is native of Australia and generally grown and found on the

banks of rivers, low lying areas, and damp soils of New South Wales of

Australia, approximately grows about twenty five feet in height,

produces whitish flowers that look like bottle brushes, scientifically

called as Melaleuca alternifolia, and ancient people described this

plant as `wonder from down under' for its medicinal benefits, as

it heals many skin disorders. Tea tree oil is derived from leaves and

twigs of Tea Tree through steam distillation process. It is often

regarded as `first aid in bottle' by the herbalists as it is

Tea tree oil is yellow in color, smells like nutmeg, considered as an

essential oil that comprises of various constituents like, alpha

terpinene, alpha pinene, Myrcene, alpha phellandrene, limonene, gamma

beta pinene, terpinenol, sabinene, and due to the presence of these

phytochemicals, tea tree oil posses anti viral, anti fungal, anti

bacterial, anti septic, balsamic, expectorant, cicatrisant, anti

microbial, insecticide, sudorific, disinfectant and stimulant

properties.
