Guest guest
YES IT HURTS! If he has my type. I had low to no response and a dead nerve. A good doctor won't have to do the test to long before he has what he needs. Tell your son to relax as much as he can and that will get the test over faster. If he is in to much pain stop the dang test. I won't allow my kids to have that test just so you know. I found it to be mid evil. But I have known people with type 2 that are not bothered much by it. Guest guest
Hi Paige, I've had two EMG/nerve conduction tests on my legs and feet and two on my hands and arms. I don't want to say it hurts but it can be uncomfortable. What helped me was having a loved one with me to talk to me through the whole thing so my mind wasn't so much on what was happening at the moment. Have your son wear comfortable shorts. That way they really don't have to have him put on an uncomfortable gown. If he has cold feet or legs have them warm them with a blanket or heat lamp first. They will get better readings if they do. I can't imagine having the test done at his young age. It can be sort of scary because it has little needles like acupunture needles. But it is mostly uncomfortable. I can't say that this test will 100% say for sure he has CMT but it will help with a diagnosis. Good luck to both of you! Elaina
