Fat acts as a barrier that shields the glucose so the insulin can't get to it. No matter how much insulin you have in your blood if you have fat in your blood you are going to test diabetic. Did you read about Hunza's diet, it's almost all grains, and they live till 140, and capable making babies at age 90 http://thepdi.com/hunza_health_secrets.htm  You can get a DVD from library " Taking control of diabetes " by Dr. Barnard, read the summary here, as you can see it's all carbs (starches) diet: http://www.idf.org/sites/default/files/attachments/article_511_en.pdf Many centenarians like eating oatmeal every morning. Guest guest
I often train for a marathon the first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. I will run or walk for several hours without eating anything. This trains my body to get into fat-burning mode. Although one's glucose stores are limited, even the thinnest people have a great deal of stored fat available for energy. I have run the marathon (or further) 159 times and I rarely eat pasta. > Â snip from article > Hunzas, who engage in demanding physical labor all morning long on an empty stomach.
