Guest guest
, carbs is the best food from longevity point, has to be 80% of your calories, ideally. And it doesn't make you fat, unless you eat it with fat and/or sugar and alcohol. Sugar is 50% fructose which gets metabolized by our liver as fat, alcohol is also get metabolized by our liver as fat. So if you consume too much fructose and/or alcohol you get fatty liver and many other health issues.  There are only 3 types of calories- carbs, fat and protein. You need at least 1000 cal a day (depending on your body size). If you get those calories from protein and fat you will age faster, you want it to be carbs, and not just any carbs but preferably starches (whole grains) because those are fructose free and high fiber.  ________________________________ From: Stanley <j_alexander_stanley@...> Longevity Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 10:56 AM Subject: Re: Foods For Weight Loss  > > > > Let us discuss some of the foods that comprise the above nutritious > qualities and nutritive value for the betterment of health. Guest guest
There has been some research suggesting that a diet with plenty of complex carbs is a good thing. The way I understand it is that the fiber creates a slow release keeping insulin from spiking, which is a good thing. So I am trying to stick to a diet of plenty of veggies, maybe some sweet potatoes here and there, some whole grain, and some fish and a little turkey. Very little meat, and no chips or fries. Maybe Violet could weigh in on this a little more. She really knows a lot. Guest guest
Gluconeogenesis is a normal process most people fail to develop to any extent (the fundamental basis for insulin resistance). Exercise in a fasting state also exercises this pathway. Specifically the lipolysis branch, as the exercise inhibits proteolysis. This turns on severe anti-aging genes. I fast every other day and exercise on the fasting days. This is a practice in epigenetics. ,MD Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4GLTE smartphone ----- Reply message ----- From: " Eliot " <ewcollins@...> <Longevity > Subject: Re: Foods For Weight Loss Date: Fri, Feb 24, 2012 12:55 I often train for a marathon the first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. I will run or walk for several hours without eating anything. This trains my body to get into fat-burning mode. Although one's glucose stores are limited, even the thinnest people have a great deal of stored fat available for energy. I have run the marathon (or further) 159 times and I rarely eat pasta. >  snip from article > Hunzas, who engage in demanding physical labor all morning long on an empty stomach. Guest guest
, fasting every other day, wow! How long have you been doing that? How many times and how many calories do you eat on the other non-fasting days?  ________________________________ From: " jrhmd53@... Guest guest
This sounds very good except turkey, it's has 3 times higher inflammatory factor (contains 3 times more arachidonic acid) than beef according to 'Inflammation Nation' Book http://www.genesmart.com/products/inflammation_nation/20.php?page_id=153 ________________________________ From: Chuck <chuckfrasher@...> Longevity Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 9:02 PM Subject: Re: Re: Foods For Weight Loss There has been some research suggesting that a diet with plenty of complex carbs is a good thing. Guest guest
Maybe I should rethink the Turkey then. I wouldn't mind getting rig of meat altogether and just eat some fish. How about chicken 2 or 3 times a week? Do you think that would be a better choice?
