Guest guest
Hi Mike, I have that same problem. Sometimes I'm on my feet for long periods of time and seem to be okay until the next day. Then I can barely walk. Without knowing alot of your symptoms and what you may have tried already, the only suggestions I can give you at this time are a good pair of orthotics and really good shoes/sneakers. Do you already have those or do you maybe have AFO's? I hear alot of talk about AFO's but I don't wear them at this time. When I'm on my feet alot a try, stress try, to take little breaks and get off my feet for 10 or so minutes. If I've been on them alot I soak and rub them before bed. I also do stretches as much as possible. But for me if it wasn't for orthotics I wouldn't be able to be on my feet for more than an hour at a time. I've just had surgery on my foot so hopefully I'll be able to give more advice when I find out how successful the surgery was. It was pretty successful on the left foot so I'm hoping it does the trick on the right. I'm sure others will have some good advice also. Have you talked to a podiatrist or neurologist? Elaina. Guest guest
Hello, Aren't the metal AFOs heavy? The plastic ones are much lighter. Yes, maybe there a bit sweaty but someone must know a solution out there to this problem. Thanks Heidi
Guest guest
Mike, Sounds like you need AFOs. Talk to your Dr. about them and see if he doesn't think you need them. I would suggest the metal ones as the plastic ones can be so hot and sticky in summer weather. The plastic ones can be hard to find shoes that will work with them unless they are tennis shoes. Guest guest
I am wearing the Toe-Offs that are made out of titanium. Not as hot as plastic and weigh less. Jackie
Guest guest
Mike, The metal AFOs really aren't that much heavier than the plastic ones. Try it, I think you will be surprized. I think this is part of the sales job from lazy orthotists who perfer to make plastic ones. In the south were I am there is a distinct trend back to metal AFOs.They are much more comfortable in the heat, trust me I have both types.
