Guest guest
Hello Docs, Have a patient who presented with some strange symptoms and method of injury. She had been experiencing some generalized knee soreness. She bent down to pick up some blankets and heard a loud pop in the knee. Her entire lower leg went numb and has been since the incident (end of December). Knee testing was normal for stability and xray of knee proved unremarkable. The numbness of lower leg which also involves entire foot does not follow a dermatome. It’s the entire thing! Patellar reflex absent with reinforcement on that side, achilles normal. Some strength of that limb is reduced, particularily in hip flexion, knee flexion, toe walk, heel walk, squat test. She has some moderate gluteus pain on the same side that she describes as inexplicable bruise pain, but NO low back pain. She is an out of pocket patient and is reluctant to drop the coin on an MRI. Any ideas? We’re treating as potential disc injury with n. root compression, but it looks different than any that I’ve seen. ph Medlin D.C.
