Guest guest
Hi, My mom, who has CMT, has had bouts with severe vomitting for a couple of years now. Just recently though, she was hospitalized because it got so bad. After 10 days in the hospital, and every imaginable test, the doctors are baffled. It's not cancer and her organs seem to be find. I thought I would ask if anyone has experienced anything similar? We were wondering if a stomach valve or muscle could be too weak to let food pass by. She can't even keep liquids down right now. I don't think her doctors know much about CMT. Please let me know if anyone has any information or thoughts, Thanks, Lori
Guest guest
Lori, I can't tell you that any of your moms symptoms is CMT related. When I read your post your mom sounded like many people I have known with gall bladder trouble. A dear friend of mine got so bad she couldn't keep even water down. However, it didn't go on for a seriously long period of time. A few weeks, a month at most. Another friend is experiencing close to the same symptoms but doctors have not found anything. They told her she has to go to the hospital as the pain and vomiting is happening so they can do ultrasounds, etc at that time. If she waits until the next day, for example, they find nothing. She is still looking for a diagnosis. I'm sure that doctors have checked your mom for gall bladder trouble? Good luck and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your mom. Elaina. Guest guest
I experienced something similar for 8 months, they feel it is an allergy triggered symptom, I am having a CAT scan on my brain and stomach to see if anything could be there, I stopped medications one at a time, which is difficult and stopped using anything with aspartame. I also bought ginger capsules in the health food store which really helped my stomach, let me know. Joyce
Guest guest
For those of you who responded to about my Mom's severe vomitting problem, I just wanted to give you an update. Looks like it is unrelated to CMT. After 10 days in 1 hospital and 10 in another, they found out it is a severe case of Diverticulitis, which is pockets that get infected in the intestines. I'm relieved they know what it is, even though she has to be in a nursing home and fed through a tube for at least the next 3 weeks to get strong enough for surgey. I'm just praying the surgery won't further weaken her CMT. Thanks for your concern! Lori
