Guest guest
I have tried something similar to Reiki called " healing touch " : for the past two years and I feel it has helped A LOT. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at a hospital and I thought the whole idea was hokey until I went to a pain management training led by one of our nurses certified in Healing Touch. she shared over an hour's worth of RESEARCH and data from many areas of science, clinical trials and case studies that indicated benefitcial results with healing touch - especially with animals (more research there) but some with people too. I figured it couldn't hurt for me to try it. The changes are slow but I definitely notice a benefit. I feel my balance and stamina are better. It is hard to say, however, if that is just the healing touch as I've also benn exercising a lot the past two years. One area whre I notice the most benefit is psychologically. I don't obsess about my CMT nearly as much and I'm not as anxious about it - and the idea of progression. We also practice visualization with my healing touch. The progress is slow but I really feel it has been worth it for me. My Uncle who is a surgeon also regularly has Reiki treatments as he's had many chronic knee and back problems and his wife, my Aunt, uses Reiki for chronic pain. Both say they feel benefits and enjoy it but it is not something that provides a huge instant " cure " type of relief... Just makes day to day life with an illness better. It may not be for everyone, and some may prefer meditation, but I think it can have definite benefits. Marti
