Guest guest
Sandeep, I had a tendon transfer at the age of 23 and although it controlled my footdrop,it was very painful. It's a long surgery (4 hours) and the doctor has to line up the foot perfectly (which mine didn't). My doctor left it too far inward resulting in my walking on my big toe, which now I suffer from major painful calluses on that toe. The good news is that I don't trip as often. Now I'm 33 and I'm seriously thinking about doing it on the right foot because that's the one with major footdrop now. I don't think I would do it with a baby, though (at least not the tendon transfer). My little sister had her tendons lengthened when she was 5 and now she is 14 and walking well. What does the doctor say? Cris
Guest guest
Hi Cris, Thanks for replying and sharing your experience. My two year old son is showing the symptom of foot drop. There seems to be some balance issues also. I had my first meeting with the Doc, a geneticist and enquired about this, I have been referred to Rehab expert. He also said that generally they don't do any surgery on young kids. Will meet the Rehab guy next week. Thank You, Sandeep
