Guest guest
JOHN with fever go to the doctor-dont use sleeping pills-solve the problem--CHEERS RN From: Wang Sent: Monday, November 20, 2006 9:20 PM Subject: When to go see a Doctor and insulin pens versus syringes Hello Everyone I woke up today with a temperature of 100.2, dry mouth and nausea, BP 150/115 BPM 113 and glucose of 117 mg/dl. Called in sick and just stayed in bed today but the fever has gotten worse, it's 101 now and I've had some dry heaves after trying to down some soup. I figure that if I'm still running a fever in the morning, then I would go in to see my Doctor. Seems like we don't really have good guidelines as to when to see a Doctor or not. If the fever would just let up a little bit, then I would just tough it out at home. As I've been in bed all day, I think I will have trouble sleeping tonight so I'm considering taking a sleeping pill. Not sure if it would be a bright thing to do with a fever and all but I can't see how else I'll get the rest that I should. The Doctor has given me an insulin pen now that Lantus is available for the Opticlick pen. I still have a vial of insulin left so I haven't used the pen yet but it seems to me that the pen is just a fancy syringe, the only advantage is that it only dispenses from cartridges. I was hoping for something where I wouldn't have to see the needle. The downside of the pen seems to be that it can't be refrigerated as the electronics would suffer from the condensate so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to travel with it, it's not unusual to encounter high temperatures when traveling. So, what criteria do y'all use for deciding when to see a Doctor? And how do you travel with an insulin pen? Regards,
Guest guest
I don't know anything about the insulin. But with a fever, drink lots of water. Get yourself to the Dr., or the ER. The bug is nothing to mess with, especially if you are diabetic.
