Guest guest
Hi , This is a good question for us. My twin and I both have Type X, so does Dad. Unlike Dad, we are asymptomatic and have been since we were diagnosed. It was really hard to understand CMT when we were younger, because we all were dealing with the loss of Mom and it just seemed that we all cried and cried together. My Dad has been so wonderful to us and got us on a good track with the information in this group and continues to fill us in. Dad is still doing well - loves his volleyball as we do. While he is midly affected, we are aware that progress can occur, but don't see this happening in him, nor in us. Now, specifically related to your question: yes, Hayley and I both feel that having a sib with diagnosed CMT makes it easier. We share so much, and now that we are thinking of family planning, we talk to each other about this quite a bit and share our deepest feelings. Lately we have been talking about family genes and pre-implanation or adoption when/if we have children. We also talk about some of the other topics presented here too. I also feel it helps having a sister to share this with. Because I don't know if we'd be sharing this stuff with a brother. Alot of our sharing is " girl stuff " - but CMT related. Sincerely, Hannah
