Guest guest
Hi everyone, Now that I think about it, I guess you can call what I went thru growing up " bullying " . Kids always taunted me and threw things at me. I was " different " . I walked funny and ran funny and was just awkward. However, I was greatly affected by my 4th grade teacher's comments. He told my mother, " Let's face it, is never going to amount to anything. If someone was looking for someone to drop down a volcano as a human sacrifice, they would choose her. " That comment and the mean things that teacher always said affected my entire school career. My mom went to the principal and all he got was a slap on the wrist. He denied ever saying it of course. For years my grades and self esteem suffered. Once I got out of school and was thinking about what to do with my life, his words came back to haunt me, " I will never amount to anything " . That was the last time they haunted me because I changed my attitude and decided to prove that teacher wrong. I went to college and all of a sudden I was getting straight A's for the first time in my life. Now I am a teacher and the one thing I learned from that teacher is how NOT to teach. Good luck on your fight. Don't give up. Jen
