Children living in the urban areas of the US whoconsume fluoridated water and who have access to better dental care, have approximately the same number of decayed teeth as children who live inpoorer areas across the nation (who do not have access to fluoridated waterconsumption).  On the other hand, the CDC (Centers for Disease and Control)states that water fluoridation reduces the risk of tooth decay. Even so, plentyof recent studies have proved exactly the opposite: that water fluoridationdoes not play any role in the reduction of dental decay risk. Beeber, who is the President of the NYSCOF, says thatthere are a lot of money spent on water fluoridation systems nationwide. Thismoney is basically thrown out the window, because as these important studiesreveal, fluoridation fails to help with the prevention of cavity formation. Moreover, through water fluoridation, organizations expose the children to theadverse health effects of fluoride ingestion.  There are currently millions of dollars spent every singleyear on fluoridation systems around the NYC area alone. The NYS Dental JournalJune/July issue of 2011, has revealed that the Chinese American childrenbetween 2 and 11 years old who live in Chinatown (Manhattan) do struggle with a much higheroccurrence of dental decay compared to white children and children from otherminorities on a national level. As many as 63% of the Chinese American childrendo have primary tooth decay, compared to only 38% of children nationally.  Currently, the anti-fluoridation organizations and entitieswant to enforce new legislature that will help stopping fluoridation in the NYCarea. According to F. Vallone, Jr. who is a chief sponsor, there hasalready been clearly proved that fluoridation poses harm for the health, andthis process must be stopped.
