Guest guest
Joana, Get a written copy of your EMG results from your doctor. Demand it. You, as the patient in this case, have every right to it. At least that is the way it is for me here in California. Even before my last EMG was started, besides sending the results to the doctor who ordered the test, I asked Dr. C's assistant to please make certain I receive a copy of the results, also one to be sent to my orthopedist (and I gave her the address). Keeping copies of all my medical records like this here is extremely important - not only just for the sake of having my own files, but I have found some really bizarre mistakes in doctors notes, and other things that needed correction (like one letter said " patient has no reported allergies) Hello? I have many allergies, and on all my medical forms that I complete I list them. Imagine some doctor reading I have no allergies and giving me a certain type of antibiotics, sulfa or certain pain medications. I realize our medical system is different than yours in the UK, but it seems that your doctor should take the time to explain the ranges of slow, normal, abnormal, discuss the nerve firing potentials, etc. My doctor did this with me and it was very helpful as well as educational. ~ Gretchen
