Guest guest
Dear fellow Listservers: Just wanted to give a heads up to other practitioners: Has anyone dealt with Zynex? They are a company that rents out machines such as tens units for patients. They do the billing. I remember they marketed to me my first year of practice. Recently had an MVA patient have a really unfortunate dealing with them and is now being billed over $3000 for a home tens unit. They bill insurance $450/month for the units and have over 200 PDX area PTs, DCs, and MDs on board, most of whom probably do not realize who they are dealing with or their huge profits. A young physical therapist was treating this patient and tried (for 45 minutes) to adjust her ribs. Afterwards, she was so sore, for days, that the therapist, mortified, told her he was getting her a tens unit ordered. She understood that she could keep it and was not told it was a rental. She stopped seeing the therapist and was referred to me, by one of the many practitioners involved in the case. A couple months later the PIP was exhausted and she received a bill from Zynex and also learned about the rental situation. Long story short, her attorney is fighting this, although Zynex has a huge legal team. If anyone wants more info on my experience with this company, please contact me by phone! Jocelyn Kirnak, D.C. Guest guest
Yes, this is a complete scam. Particularly when one considers that the tens unit she was 'renting' could have been purchased for less than $100.00. I believe that the medical board would have something to say about such blatant disregard for the health and welfare of your patient... And I think I recall--maybe Minga posting--something about the OBCE coming down negatively on that kind of 'arrangement'. I faced the same situation with a PI patient. Her own physician had done this 'tens scam' with her along with dozens of 'office visits' that drained her PIP account. By the time she came to me, she had only about $800 left and she was in dire need of both treatment and MRI's for her neck and knee. There would have been more than enough money for her care and all the X-rays and MRI's from here to China. I spoke to her physician (MD) and read her up one side and down the middle and make a formal report to the medical board. She was not happy with me, but she was knew she was wrong. Guessing she either learned something from this medical malpractice or she is still out there somewhere making money off of PI patients. Sad but true. Guest guest
Not sure what’s worse, the scam of the Tens Unit or the Scam of the Phys.Therapist trying to be a chiropractor. Both seem to be not helping the patient whatsoever. I mean, you’re gonna try for 45 minutes to get a rib to move? Holy incompetence Batman!! This isn’t a danger to the Public? ph Medlin D.C.
