My experience has been that my employers have been wonderful and very

supportive. My last employer actually used to use me as an example of what a

strong, hard worker I was and how he was in awe of me. Most employers that I

have spoken to feel that disabled people that choose to work are in the minority

and they actually respect our strength and fortitude to push ahead.

Jackie and all who have responded with their stories,

Thank you so much. I believe my employer would be very supportive also.

After much thought I think I will wait and inform them after my surgery. That

way, hopefully, I'll be able to say 'I have been diagnosed with this, had

surgery, feel great, and just wanted you to know for future reference'. My

company

is really big on community help and fundraising and I'm trying to come up with

a clever idea to have a CMT/MD fundraiser. We have about 500 employees who

all donate all year round so I'm trying to work this in somehow. I think if I

get the information out to top management it will help with fundraiser and

awareness.

Thanks again everyone!

Elaina.
