Guest guest
Tommy, The cause of my (former) back pain was a herniated disc with some beginning of degenerative disc disease. Had a fusion 3 years ago next month and it has worked so well. Now it is hard for me to believe I ever had the back pain, or the fusion for that matter. I maintain specific aquatic exercises in part of my regular program for 'back maintenance' as my orthopedist suggested along with Pilates. And that works great too. This orthopedist is the best doctor I've ever had. The amount of Neurontin I was taking is what is now the standard dose listed in the PDR. I never took Neurontin higher than 900 mg a day. One doctor asked me to consider going higher and I simply said " no " . I had done enough Neurontin research at that time and was on the St. 's College Neurontin mailing list, so I was hearing all kinds of Neurontin's effects at the 'mega dose' level, and for all kinds of disorders. We are all different in our CMT needs, and I did not need any more Neurontin! At the time I took it, it was still under patent, and was not FDA approved for anything other than use as an anti-eleptic. It did take away the " sparks/shocks " in my arms and for that, I'm happy. No doubt just quieted too much electrical activity in my brain. That is the story of my CMT life; symptoms come and go. ~ Gretchen
