Guest guest
I've been reading the many posts about testing. I have not had any testing because it didn't seem necessary to me. My regular family doctor had not heard of CMT when I came to her ready to finally get AFOs. I have seen the progression of CMT with my mom who is now 93 years old, so knew what I had. My doctor referred me to a neurologist that she thought was the best. I felt like he didn't have much time for me and after looking at me for 30 minutes and my sharing with him he sent me back to the physician who then referred me to a podiatrist for the AFO prescription. That seemed really strange to me. My mom had worked in an orthopedic clinic and had always been seen by an orthopedist. The podiatrist din't make sense to me because CMT is not just feet. Anyway I got my AFOs and haven't seen anyone since. I have made an appointment with the place I got the AFOs to look at other styles after learning about them from the posts here. Not sure what seeing a physician or other specialist can do for me. I don't have any real pain just loss of strength and movement in fingers and feet. Am I out in left field? Or does this make sense?
