Guest guest
Neurologists Go to Washington for 3rd Successful Year St. , Minn. – The third annual Neurology on the Hill Day was successful as a group of 61 neurologists traveled to Washington, D.C. on May 24 and 25 to put a face on neurological issues with over 100 members of Congress. Sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), Neurology on the Hill Day empowers neurologists to advocate on behalf of their patients for sensible healthcare reforms at the national level. The neurologists, from 26 states and the District of Columbia, met with 106 members of Congress on Capitol Hill. The participants asked that their legislators support medical liability reform, consider the recommendations of the Medicaid Commission, and fix the Medicare payment formula. Participation has grown each year since the first Neurology on the Hill Day. The AAN sent 29 neurologists in 2003 and 54 neurologists in 2004. " This event is an opportunity to remind our elected officials in Washington that their decisions have a major impact on the lives of people with neurological disorders and the physicians who are dedicated to treating them, " said Mark S. Yerby, MD, MPH, who chairs the AAN Legislative Affairs Committee.
