Guest guest
Elaine- just returning the favor. I get much encouragement and plenty of helpful information from your posts. I don't notice people watching me walk anymore. In fact, I learned this in a quite interesting way when I got my scooter recently. I also learned how many people truly do care. I drove my scooter from home to our parish to attend and work at our parish festival. I was there several hours. No way, in the last few years, would I have been able to do this and be as comfortable and rested. One hour there, on foot, would have left me sore and exhausted. My wife told me that many people approached her and told her how glad they were to see me on my scooter. They had become fearful of me falling and uncomfortable seeing how much it had begun to be painful to try to stay on my feet all the time. I also had several people approach me and compliment me on my scooter and say how glad they were to see me on one. I have yet to see anyone give me a look of disapproval or voice the same. As for a good orthotist. Finding one has been a matter of luck and asking the right people, for me. Good sources of information for me have been MDA, my doctors, local support groups. Don't stay with one who seems callous or poorly informed. I actually work with a wonderful orthotist and a pedorthist (he does my boot work and inserts). The orthotist can do the inserts, and has, but his shop is so far away, I go to a guy in my town who is a pedorthist. Have a good Fourth.
