Guest guest
Hi Deb, I was diagnosed in January with CMT type 2. I too have high arches, hammertoes, loss of feeling and muscle in my feet. I have extreme pain but am hoping a plantar fascia surgery will take that away in June. Today I've had awful pain in my ankle. It feels like it's going to break in half. I work full time at a computer all day and although my hands don't hurt very much, I have noticed my handwriting and typing has gotten sloppy. I was diagnosed years ago with arthritis in my right hand and a small case of carpel tunnel in my left hand. I should probably have both re-assessed now that CMT has been discovered. Right now because of the pain walking is difficult but I push through each day. I have had a couple of small instances where I wasn't able to stop my truck right when I needed too. (that wakes you up real fast in the morning!) I'm taking Neurontin which only seems to help for a short time and then the dosage gets raised a little more. I'm 39 and have had feet trouble for as long as I can remember. My mother remembers me at 5 or 6 complaining of feet pain. I get very tired/fatigued very fast. After a full work day I'm ready for a nap. Makes studying difficult and I've had to put school work off to the weekends because I don't have enough energy during the week what with work and taking care of the home. Right now I am only using orthotics in my sneakers and they even feel like bricks but again I'm praying the surgery will take all this pain away.
