Chuck- your exercise sounds helpful. Last summer, I went through

physical therapy to improve my balance and gait. I used a device

similar to that described my Gretchen. My physical therapist suggested

I could make a similar device with a piece of plywood and some lumber

cut to make the tipping surface. He also taught an exercise in which I

try to stand as long as possible heel to toe, first with one foot and

then the other in front. This one has the most positive effect, but I

need to be in an area where I have something to grab on either side,

because I will lose my balance after a while. I hope this helps.
