Guest guest
Everyone, Please heed Elaine's advice not to engage in surgery for cosmetic purposes. Elaine, you did absolutely the right thing for your daughter. I looked into surgery as an option about 15 years ago. The surgeon was only too happy to operate immediately and said, " At least you'll have a better looking foot. " Needless to say I ran like hell from him and got a second opinion. The second doc recommended orthotics and stretching exercises. I got another good 12 years out of my feet before I started with braces (at age 55) and eventually surgery in February at the age of 58. The surgery, by a brilliant surgeon who is more concerned with the mechanics of my foot than their looks, has been an amazing success. Today I had a terrific day--the first with my in-shoe brace where I was able to walk around my office, in a very large building, all day without pain or discomfort. I have not been able to do that for years. Surgery on my other foot will occur probably in January of next year. By this time next year, I anticipate having two good feet under me.
